Our end of the year CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON was a resounding success featuring one of our Associate members, State Senator Dan Patrick, (District 7) as our guest speaker. Dan was elected in his first run for office with nearly 70% of the vote in 2006. He has made a difference in our community for many years and is now "making a difference" in Austin at the state level. He, also, officially installed our new officers for the RRRW Board for 2008. Numerous Republican officials and officeseekers attended our last meeting of the year. While they were there, we were able to begin helping them for the 2008 elections by signing their petitions allowing them to run.

We were delighted to start our new year out with attorney JACK LEE, another one of our Associates, as our speaker. He helped us kick off our 2008 year and revved us up for the upcoming national elections by reminding us why we are conservative Republicans. He will got us off to a great start in getting our mindset ready to help our candidates and defeat the LIBERAL (They don't like to be called that!) democrats.
We honored three of our outstanding lady members who have done extraordinary work for the Republican Party Texas over the years. These ladies have always been at the forefront of "making things happen" in the state of Texas, politically and through their work in the community. The honorees were: VERDENE RYDER, LOIS VAN WART AND LOUISE WHITEFORD.
They are a triumvirate that we are proud to have as members!

This was our "First Year Anniversary" and President's Day. It was marked by an INCREASE of 1500 % since our inception last year! We are MOVING!!! This meeting featured, CHARLES BACARISEE AND ED EMMETT as our main speakers. Both of these men are running against each other for the most important job in Harris County, that of the Harris County Judge. They acquitted themselves well and gave us a clear look at their positions in reference to the job they are running for and their background experience important in being considered for the job.
ADDITIONALLY we had Conservative Republican, former AMBASSADOR ALAN KEYES, (under President Reagan) who spoke to us at our meeting. His talk was interrupted a number of times with clapping and ended with a standing ovation. He is running as THE real conservative Republican candidate in an effort to push conservative thought and principles to make sure we, at the "grassroots" are heard LOUD and CLEAR! He will be having a rally at the Houston Baptist University on Thursday evening at 7:00. He is a great speaker! Go to listen and learn.

We were delighted to have as our St. Patrick's Day speaker the former U.S. House of Representatives Republican Whip and leader, the Honorable TOM DELAY. Mr. De Lay shared stories of his experiences from running for local office to serving in Congress AND his work that he is involved in now to rebuilding the conservative movement from the grassroots up. He shared his thoughts how conservatives can STAND STRONG and get organized for the upcoming election to counter inroads that the democrats have been making with the use of "soft money" and active participation in politics. It was a most interesting and informative meeting.
Mr. DeLay did a book signing for us. His new book, "No Retreat, No Surrender: One American's Fight" was available for purchase.

Associate Member, Judge John Coselli, 125th District Court, has kindly consented to speak to us on "Electing the third branch of government: What you need to know." We will be asking judges, who are running in the November election, to join us so we may meet them and be informed as to how, and where, we can be of help to them. We have a number of judges running for the 2008 election...most of them are running for re-election. So come and listen to "reasons for knowing your judges; and don't wait until you are called to court to worry about who your Judge will be...its too late then!" Remember, we need the conservative Republican vote all the way to the end of the ballot.
